Saving files to HTML


Since many of my hostees have come from freewebs, I thought that this tutorial is due (plus it corresponds to the FTP one heehee ).

The first thing you need to know when coming from freewebs, or where ever, to being hosted is that there is no easy website builder or WebzEdit™. Everything has to be done from scratch

1. So, let's get started... we need a folder to put all of your files in (your internet files to be uploaded using FTP) Right click on your desktop, or where ever you want your files, doesn't matter. You just need a new, empty folder.
   
   
2. Name that folder your sites name. (Makes sense right? )
   
   
3. Open up notepad.
   
   Why notepad? b/c it's easy to use, very simple and every one has it.
   
   
4. Copy and paste the coding of your index page in it.
   
   
5. Go to File > Save and save it as index.html OR index.htm It shouldn't be .txt If it is, you have done something wrong
   
   Note: it should be saved IN the folder you just made.

If the last step confused you, no worries, I've brought visuals! lol




w00t! You just made your index page! Now repeat steps 3-5 with all of the pages that is your website. Onto Images...

Create a folder within the folder that is named after your site.

Call it images.

Put all of the images that your site needs to function in that folder.

Now go through your files and where it says <img src="URL"> change it to <img src="images/whateverthepiciscalled">

You don't have to do the images if you don't want to. If you like uploading them into photobucket or whatever, then go right ahead. It's all up to you
